Europeia University is located at Carnide, a peripheral area at the Northern end of Lisbon, and aims at increasing its social role and the links with the local community, through an academic project e-Carnide.

The academic project e-Carnide aims to create a tool for delivering data about an emerging touristic destination and to study its effect on local perception. It also intends to establish a dynamic connection between the Universidade Europeia and its neighbourhood.
The project was conceived as an exploratory activity to evaluate methodologies and instruments that will be applied in upcoming multidisciplinary projects. The students in modules Cultural Heritage, Ethnography and History in the Tourism course were in charge of the inventory fieldwork.
Now, the data is being revised and being implemented in the database, serving to the internal tests to the website and app with the assistance of the Informatics Engineering course. In the meanwhile, the students of the modules Communication and Multimedia Design in the Design course have been defining the concept with a headline, a logo and an icon to the store and wireframe, are working on the layouts and the interactive mockup.
The current status of this research allows us to describe the historical, cultural and social contexts of Carnide.
